21410 - The New Organ of the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle Duisburg

CD21410_Orgel_b200
The New Organ of the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle Duisburg
Dedication Recital for the New Organ on 14. November 2009

Iveta Apkalna, Organ

Thomas Trotter, Organ

With this new release a very special highlight of the long-standing partnership between the Duisburg Philharmonics under the baton of Jonathan Darlington and ACOUSENCE has been documented:  The venue of the Duisburg Philharmonics, the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle erected three years ago, got a big new concert organ built by Eule in an English/late romantic style at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. The very first performance on this magnificent instrument, the dedication concert on 14th September 2009, immediately presented the opportunity to also publish this multifaceted programme on CD. In addition it was possible to employ two world-class organists as soloists for this concert: Iveta Apkala and Thomas Trotter.

Joseph Jongen (1873-1953)
Sonata Eroica in C-sharp minor, opus 94
(Iveta Apkalna)

WAGNER / Dreßler: THE SYMPHONIC RING

CD21309_Wagner_b200n
NEW! DEBUT RECORDING

Full of suspense, Richard Wagner‘s “Stage festival play for three days and an eve” reworked into a purely orchestral drama as a complete symphony.

A new discovery for Wagner fans:
The highly dramatic journey takes you right through the “Ring of the Nibelung” in a shortened form spanning a good one and a half hours.

A must for lovers of great orchestral symphonies:
The highlights of Wagner’s compositional and orchestral artistry stylishly combined in a new adaptation by Friedmann Dreßler, based on Wagner’s fascinating orchestral sounds.

In this live recording, JONATHAN DARLINGTON conducts the first-class Duisburg Philharmonic with a keen sense for the great climaxes and impressive overall dramaturgy of the piece. An extraordinary music experience for audiophiles.
