The maximum possible output level can optionally be raised by 10dB for better adaptation to different power amplifiers. The actual motivation comes from the opposite: For our professional product line our analog electronics were designed to handle high levels without any problems. However, by professional standards many Hifi power amplifiers actually have input stages that are far too sensitive. Even if they have balanced inputs via XLR and one can expect compatibility with the corresponding standards. This characteristic becomes unfavourable when the volume control is only moved in the lower third of the control range. On the other hand, it is ideal if the volume control is fully in the right stop at the maximum desired volume. In order not to give away sound unnecessarily by unfavourable positions of the control, we have changed the design to lower standard level and the control can be turned up further. The +10dB button is then for cases in which the desired maximum level is otherwise not achievable.
